
Georgia Lodging Outlook 2024
On Thursday, September 7, 2023 the Georgia Chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society collaborated with the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association to host the annual Georgia Lodging Outlook breakfast seminar. A crowd of 400 area hotel industry professionals were in attendance. This year’s event was held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Downtown Atlanta.
Jim Sprouse, President of the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, and CHS Georgia chapter Vice President Sam Woodworth MMH ‘16 provided welcome remarks. Sam then handed out two complimentary online course certificates donated by eCornell.
The first educational panel addressed the rising impact of ESG and DEI initiatives on hotel ownership and operations. Sharing their expertise were Steven Nicholas ’92 - Managing Principal & Head of Asset Management for Noble Investment Group, Joe Snider - Manager, Corporate Responsibility Environment & Americas Support at IHG, and Christina Snipe - Corporate Director of HR – Compliance & Field Support for Davidson Hotels and Resorts. Moderating the panel was Mary Beth Cutshall, Founder and Managing Partner of Amara Capital.
Mark Woodworth ’77, Principal of R.M. Woodworth & Associates led a panel of local area experts that presented their outlook for 2024:
- Tim Dick, Ph.D. ‘88 – Executive Vice President, CBRE Hotels
- Mark Vaughan, EVP and Chief Sales Officer for the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau
- Sofya McIntosh - Vice President of Sales and Enterprise Solutions at Kalibri Labs
