For the first time in our 96-year history, CHS is inviting the global Hotelie community to nominate individuals for our expanding Board of Directors – a new process being launched through Cornell University’s Volunteer Portal.
All alumni with an undergraduate or graduate degree from The Cornell Peter & Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration may be considered by the nominating committee and may nominate others or self-nominate.
The duties of the Global Board Director are strategic in nature, focused on governance, membership engagement, and long-term initiatives. It is from this Board of Directors that future Officers will be selected – notably the 2nd Vice President – which subsequently becomes the 1st Vice President, and then Global President. By serving as a Director, one does not have to aspire to become an Officer. We all share the humble ethos that Life Is Service. And we invite all interested candidates, including ones ultimately not selected by the nominating committee, to continue to volunteer and engage with CHS at the regional and chapter level.
With this new change in our leadership succession process, we intend to increase the transparency and involvement of our global Hotelie community. We thank you in advance for considering nominating someone you feel can contribute to the CHS mission as a future Director.
