Dear Hotelie friends,

Happy New Year!

새해 복 많이 받으세요 (Sae-hae Bok Manh-i Baad-eu-se-yo)

恭喜發財/恭喜发财 (Kung Hei Fat Choy/ Gōngxǐ fācái)

I am truly honored to write you as your 2025 CHS Global President.  It is such an honor, and I am super excited to be serving you alongside a fantastic group of volunteers around the world and with our Global Board Members – Richy Petrina BS ’01, Immediate Past President; Alex Koch BS ’04, 1st Vice President, Mark VanStekelenberg BS ’03, 2nd Vice President; Anika Malhotra MMH ’12, Secretary; Erica Killam BS ’08, Treasurer; our Directors (in surname alphabetical order) Daryl Ansel MMH ’99, Alison Gendron Hargreaves BS ’00, Robert Hecker MPS ’87, John Longstreet BS ’77 and Steven Nicholas BS ’92; and Susan Boyle BS ’87, Executive Director.

As I sit here writing this, 7,906 miles away from Statler Hall, School of Hotel Administration (now known as Nolan School of Hotel Administration), I am reminded of how special it was to begin my journey as a Hotelie.  Being a “Hotelie for Life” is not just a slogan but our motto; with almost 60 chapters around the world and 97 years of history, we continue to serve the CHS community in various ways, from engagement and recognition to raising funds to support over 27 scholarships, sharing career opportunities, and much more…

While many of us remained in the hospitality industry, many have not… Being a Hotelie and a part of the CHS community is not just about being in the hospitality/hotel industry—it’s for everyone who shared memories back at Statler Hall. The bond will continue to grow as our CHS community grows, and CHS is here to serve every member of our Hotelie alumni community ‘wherever you are, whatever you do’…

And as we enter the lunar new year of the blue snake, symbolizing wisdom and transformation, I would like to focus on providing more insight into how CHS can benefit all our Hotelies around the world and transform the notion of what it means to be a Hotelie.  I encourage everyone to check out The CHS Lobby for the latest news and events including Hall of Fame, and our recently launched Hotelie Marketplace.  If you haven’t done so already, sign up for The CHS Lobby, our official online platform for Hotelies around the world.

With the baton handed over from my dear friend Richy, I have big shoes to fill and lots of ground to cover this year (pun intended). Check out
Richy’s 2024 Hotelie Journey story. I look forward to serving you and building more connections with Hotelie friends, and I would like to encourage you to connect with more Hotelie friends, too. Let’s continue to connect and engage to keep our Hotelie community strong!

Your truly,

Becky
