The Cornell Hotel Society mourns the passing of Brad Walp MPS ’93.

Brad Walp specialized in international/Global Studies as an undergrad at the University of Washington, with a minor in Business and Scandinavian Studies.  As a result, his first job out of college was at the Radisson Blu hotels in Copenhagen.  This just accentuated his passion for food and hospitality and propelled him to a successful career in hotel operations and education.

After 12 years in hotel and restaurant operations and ownership, Brad found his way to Ithaca where he pursued his Master’s Degree in Hotel Administration.  While in Ithaca he ultimately wound up directing the graduate program and enrollment for the Hotel School.  Along the way Brad briefly moved to Paris to head up enrollment at the American University of Paris, but ended his career as Executive Director of Enrollment Management and International Academic Initiatives for the Cornell S.C. Johnson College of Business.

Brad was well liked by everyone.  He promoted open conversation with students, faculty, and administrators to build a sense of community.  He was open to trying new experiences such as roping and knitting.  He loved cooking, board games, and international travel.  He spent Y2K on a beach in Bali, just in case the world did come to an end.
