A Memorable Hotelie Weekend in NYC!
On behalf of the many volunteers that contributed to the memorable Hotelie weekend in NYC last month, we wish to thank the participants, sponsors, and invited guests that supported the Cornell Hotel Society community. Here is a recap of some of the highlights!
On Friday, November 10th
CHS & Moët Hennessy hosted 35 second-year MMH students for an intimate networking event that featured speakers from Veuve Clicquot, Girls Who Invest, Tiffany & Co, and the Chief Investment Officer of Cornell University. Thank you to the Hotelies at LVMH for their warm hospitality, chilled wines, and opening up their Magic Room!

On Saturday, November 11th
Thanks to many Hotelies involved in the planning process behind the scenes, the alumni community was able to help organize various visits for the CHS Collegiate Chapter. The 15 undergraduate student leaders explored The Lotte New York Palace, dined at Shake Shack, and discovered the Four Seasons New York Downtown…among other fun stops that day. Thank you to all including the School and its representatives who made this day memorable for the next generation of Hotelie leaders!
On Sunday, November 12th
Once again, hundreds of Hotelies spent a Super Sunday at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel - New York City. A warm thanks to Francois Luiggi for so generously making the iconic Pierre our hospitable home base for the day where we could host five wonderfully-accessible events.
Industry Panel Discussions with Hall of Famers
A big Thank You to our moderators and panelists for thought-provoking conversations during the three panel discussions:
· Nourishing Tomorrow: Exploring the Future of Restaurants
· Intentional DEI During the Age of Disruption
· Next-gen Hotel Investment
This was a free event, marketed in conjunction with the networking brunch that followed after. We were delighted to see so many students in the room as they listened to – and ask questions of – some of our iconic Hotelies through these interactive sessions. Thank you Zach Pomerantz for the exquisite emceeing! The discussions were recorded for those who couldn’t attend. We invite you to click here to watch them!

The Student/Alumni Networking Brunch
We are grateful to all 220 Hotelies who attended this year’s annual networking brunch. The students were the priority, and they sat first so that we could sprinkle the alumni around them. We thank the Dean’s office for bringing so many wonderful students to the city, and to this event in particular. Student clubs included the CHS Collegiate Chapter, NSMH, AHLA, and HEC. Remarks were made by Dean Kate Walsh, CHS Global President Jeff Scott, and Collegiate Chapter President Lizzie Barrett.

The Hotelie Hall of Fame
The Hotelie Hall of Fame Class of 2023 Induction Ceremony was once again an inspirational and emotional celebration of the Hotelie legends. This year we honored 12 inductees. The individual videos of the introductions and acceptances are now posted with the inductee stories. Congratulations again to all the honorees! Click here to watch the videos.
The photos (550) of Hotelie Super Sunday can be viewed and downloaded here. If you are going to share or publish the photos, please give credit to: "Sam Lee @samhsiaomeilee”.
We are grateful for the attendance and opening remarks by Cornell University Board of Trustees Chairman Kraig Kayser and Dean Kate Walsh.
We also wish to thank the many family & friends who were able to join us and celebrate what it means to be a Hotelie for Life.
And we thank Ted Teng – who founded and chairs this critically important part of our CHS engagement. None of this would be possible without his tireless efforts in leading and inspiring so many members of the global Hotelie community to step up contribute in a meaningful way. We recognize the Nomination/Selection Committee, the many contributors to the Marketplace Auction, everyone involved with the event planning & execution, and the generous sponsors: Singer Equipment, Steelite and Made In Cookware.

The Hotelie Hall of Fame Marketplace Auction
After its debut last year, the famed auction featuring dozens of unique Hotelie prizes and experiences returned, generating over $90,000.
Thank you to all of the prize donors, solicitors, bidders, and auction winners for your support and participation.

The New York City Chapter’s “You Need to Meet” Annual Reception
We concluded the Super Sunday with the chapter’s largest annual reception. Hotelies were able to congratulate the honorees, say hello to faculty members, catch up with classmates, and meet new friends. The Pierre’s legendary food offerings were over the top!
This event was made possible by the generous support of the platinum sponsor Uplift, gold sponsor Mews, bronze sponsor The Chef Agency, beverage sponsors Pernod Ricard, Banfi, and Ithaca Beer.
We thank Chapter President Anika Malhotra and her Board along with other volunteers who contributed to the event organization and execution.

On Monday, November 13th
Our annual general meeting took place at Pier 57, organized through The James Beard Foundation and Google.
Thank you to Dean Kate Walsh for addressing our in-person and virtual audience. We thank all of you who participated and invite the entire CHS community to join future AGMs.
